Professional Experience

 

Richard Ortiz is a veteran, a Midland, TX native, and UTPB alumnus who has a background in information technology, leadership, marketing and business management. He is an advocate for data-driven practices, streamlining processes, and has a knack for problem-solving and implementing creative strategies.

He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Data Network Specialist and a Defense Message System Specialist. This prepared him for the management and leadership roles that he held across various industries.

Business Experience

He had his own dance business for 15-years until he returned to West Texas to finish his education. Currently, he is the Coordinator of Student Veteran and Foster Alumni Services at UTPB.

 

Education

  • Richard is a first-generation college student with a BBA in Marketing and an MBA. He served as a senator in the Student Government Association and graduated Cum Laude.

Personal

  • Richard competed in national and world dance championships in various circuits and applies a high-performance work ethic to everything he approaches in life. He’s a social butterfly always looking to get to know and help others. His volunteer work has helped raise millions of dollars to support people in need and raise awareness for various causes. Most notably is the local Dancing with the West Texas Stars event that helps victims of domestic and sexual violence.
